The educational process as a basis for a situational approach to the educational process

This paper deals with the educational situation for the perspective which stresses the situational aspect of education. The theoretical background is described which involves the definitions of some basic concepts related to education. The educational situation is taken to be the basic category of situation in the educational process. Basic parameters of the educational situations are defined: factors involved in the process, and its types. The second section analyses the specific classificatory features of the educational situation.

An evaluation of graphical information presented in biology textbooks

The paper reports on an assessment of graphical information as it is presented in 22 current Czech biology textbooks. Wahla's methodology was adopted for the analysis. Results show that illustrations are most frequent (59,2% - 95,58%), schematic figures and other forms of visualization are less frequent or even completely absent.

Complex services provided at counseling institutions for people with special needs

This article focuses on the relation between e-learning and the learning process, especially on the change of teaching due to the development of the Internet. It discusses models of e-learning development - pedagogical/andragogical driven development scheme and technology driven development scheme. Intelligent Learning Process (ILP) and personalized learning systems offer new possibilities for the development of e-learning. The paper also discusses the application of the constructivism methodology in the process of virtual studying.

Movement games contribute to the development with impaired binocular vision

The inadequacy of methodology for the education of children with impaired binocular vision is evident especially in the following area: the development of motoric, senso-motoric, cognitive and communicative skills, socio-emotional development, self service, space orientation and mobility, social skills, etc. The impairment of binocular vision causes a variety of problems to the children who suffer from them in various respects. It is especially space orientation and mobility which are greatly affected. This paper presents research findings that provide greater insight into the issue.

On the behaviour of vision-impaired children at play

The status of disabled people in the legal system of the Roman Empire

The paper provides new information about the legal (and also factual) status of disabled people at the time of the Roman Empire. For the first time in the Czech Republic, data about legal aspects concerning the rights of people with disability at that time are presented in a publication of special educational and educational character. The article also deals with the statues, and role of guardians of these people. As a whole the paper allows new insight in the true status of the disabled in the Roman Empire.

Communication preferences of children and teenagers with cochlear implants

A qualitative analysis of the playing interaction between a mother and a child suffering from elective mutism

In the introduction, the paper deals with elective mutism in the counseling process. It further comments on the diagnostic possibilities of the playing activity between parents and children, and also reports on its potential as a therapeutic tool.
