The contribution stems from empirical data collected via standardized interviews (a questionnaire) from a characteristic sample of adult population aged from 20 to 65 in year 2005. I follow the question if Czech adults look for help in different areas of their lives and thereby create another learning opportunity in the scope of informal learning in this contribution. The attention is also paid to the fact how looking for, or not looking for help, is related to participation and planning of participation in further education at the same time.
Employers, Educators and Guidance Practitioners: Information and Guidance Services Missed in Further Professional Education

Counselling as a Tool of Development of Human Development in Services for Adults

In the following study we describe counselling as a part of services for adults. The institutionalization of counselling indicates its topicality and justification as well as the need to continue its development. We stress the application of counselling in different areas of life of an adult person and during the work with various target groups of adults. We outline the fact that counselling is effective provided if it follows the development of personality of an adult. This fact can be proven by the attention which andragogy pays to counselling and the development of andragogical counselling.

The paper presents information on a drawing up of conceptual, strategic and legislation documents for life-long learning, life-long advisory in the Slovak Republic. Attention is focused mainly on relations among the Slovak economical structure, education system and changing labour market. A topic of competitiveness of the Slovak Republic in compliance with the Lisbon Strategy is addressed by adoption of a separate law on the life-long learning and in a future law of the life-long learning financing in the Slovak Republic.

Currently to manage a school requires a great part of formalised education.The content of this education should follow a research aimed at nowaday requirements of school management. The falling demographic diagram and securing efficient school management make local authorities to merge schools. For headmasters of these schools it means to work with this new phenomenon in school management and leadership. The article is based on the theory of potential of school self-evaluation processes for school quality development. It follows the idea that implementation of an external element into internal evaluation contributes to its effectiveness. It informs of possibilities linked with the concept of benchmarking in schooling. In the empirical part, the article introduces conclusions of analysis of published school educational programmes, school annual reports from three regions and 20 essays of school leaders. It thus provides an insight into the reality of Czech school in this respect.

The Botanical Garden of the Faculty of Science, Palacký University Olomouc (founded in 1901) has more than 2000 plant accessions on the area of 0.56 ha. Besides the flora of the Central Europe, there are plants of Mediterranean, North American and Asian origin. The garden is primarily aimed at education of university students, but it also develops programmes for education of pupils and students of all other types of schools, participates in scientific projects and programmes for the protection of diversity of wild and cultivated plant species. The methods used in institutional education of adults are focused mainly on knowledge development but there are specific development areas where the effectiveness of education lies not in cumulating field-related information but rather in influencing approaches. The report presents a survey of 180 job candidates registered by the Unemployment Offices for over 12 months. It deals with unemployment as a psychosocial problem of the present time and with personality characteristics hampering the return of the unemployed onto the labour market. It presents the structure of career types and personality dimensions from the perspective of the success in job search. It discusses about the role of consultancy in the area of unemployment and outlines personality characteristics to be strengthened during vocational training in order to eliminate unemployment in the future.
