Literacies, competencies and strategies of readers in the context of current Czech curriculum

This paper deals with the topic that is in the Czech education seen in context with the notion of reading literacy and discussed with reference to the results provided by the international comparative survey of reading literacy PISA. The first part describes the concepts of reading competence and reading strategies and mentions selected approaches to their classification. The second part - from the perspective of the chosen topic - discusses the latest adjustments of the Framework educational program for basic education which will be valid in the school year 2016/2017.

Ideology of teaching German during Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia

During Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, the Czech-German relations escalated. Specific non-coexistence was extrapolated by Nazi ideology. The attitudes towards language(s) and obligatory German language acquisition played a crucial role in this process. The aim of this paper is to analyze informal acquisition of German as a second language, attitudes of people towards this code and politics' influence on them.

Professional competencies of nursery school teachers

Pilot study aims at processing of four case studies of starting nursery school teachers with different qualifications. Pilot study helped validate the functionality of questionnaires. How Teachers use the Monologue in the Teaching

The aim of this paper is to present and to discuss research findings focused on possible forms of a teacher's monologue and communication styles of teachers at lower secondary level of elementary school. These lead to using monologues in teacher's speech while giving instructions to the class. Self-regulated learning as a factor influencing the rate of cheating by students

The term self-regulated learning is becoming an important topic in education and psychology. Individual self-regulation skills or competences are among the key terms of educational aims. This paper shows that a high rate of self-regulation of students does not necessarily bring only positive effects to the school environment. It shows that some self-regulation skills increase the rate of particular types of students' cheating with differences between men and women. Teaching evolution and natural selection at Czech and British schools

The article presents data of a comparative analysis dealing with evolutionary bilogy tought at Czech and British (English and Scottish) schools. The research aims to find out to which extent the biological topics are associated with teaching evolution and natural selection.
