Modern ICT has changed the culture and society in a way comparable to the invention of the Guttenberg letterpress. Our world is characterized by an information explosion. The amount of knowledge that is available for men is growing very rapidly. Since the late 18th century the volume of information doubles every five years. The more information is available to humans, the more important is to know how to sort, process and pass the information on to other people. The rapid development of ICT, that we are witnessing now, has affected all areas of our daily lives, including education. ICT and the development of technology create new opportunities for self-realisation of people, for meeting their needs and creating new values. Personal computers and modern communications technologies as a modern information tool notably increase the professionalism of the teacher's work. When used appropriately, it opens a window to the world and enables both teachers and pupils to use an endless array of new knowledge. It also assists in the management of the process of education itself.
