COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING YESTERDAY AND TODAY

The paper deals with communicative approach in foreign language teaching, which has dominated language teaching for several decades. The author specifies principles of communicative approach, presents suitable activities, analyses paradigm shift and changes linked with it in foreign language teaching approach, lists the most frequently used conceptions and approaches, which belong to communicative approach. There are new trends in foreign language teaching outlined in the conclusion.
