Cooperation between schools and pupils living in difficult living conditions at the time of the measures implemented with the regard of spread of Covid-19

Petr Charvát, Petr Lang, Adam Staveník

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):9-31 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.018

The article presents a research report carried out after the first wave of the Covid-19 epidemic in partner schools. The aim of this research was to use a questionnaire to find out if and by what means schools managed to maintain contact with pupils. As the data show, schools have not been able to be in regular contact with pupils from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, pupils from economically vulnerable families and low motivated pupils for learning, which may be due to the absence of role models in families, the economic situation and the unsuitable environment for the school preparation.

University education and its pandemic response COVID-19

Michal Černý

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):32-45 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.016

The COVID-19 pandemic was probably the fastest and most intensive intervention in university teaching on a global scale in history. It paved the way for online education. At the same time, however, it also raised the question of what we can learn better through e-learning than in classical face-to-face teaching and where, on the contrary, we need personal contact. The review study analyzes 16 papers indexed in the SCOPUS database, which provide insight into the reactions of universities to the new social situation.

How is it Written about Inclusion? Joint Education from the Corpus Linguistics View

Václav Velčovský

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):46-55 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.019

This paper describes the current form of journalistic texts on inclusion through the corpus analysis. Delineation of journalistic strategies is crucial for understanding the impact that journalists may have on society's non/acceptance of this concept. Article focuses primarily on diachronic frequencies and selected collocations. A secondary aim is to introduce methods of corpus linguistics for pedagogical research.

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):56-69 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.011

Self-efficacy represents individual's beliefs about their capability to produce levels of activity that would achieve the desired goals or results. As task-specific self-confidence, self-efficacy is a key construct in various human activities and positions which is frequently mentioned in context of theory of motivation and learning. Learning approaches could be specified as a what person does when they are learning and why they should do it. Thus learning approaches are an important topic in the academic environment just as self-efficacy. The aim of this study is to analyse the relationship between self-efficacy and learning approaches. The research...

Iveta Kovalčíková, Ivana Martinková

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):70-79 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.008

The paper is devoted to the concept of executive functioning in relation to the school success of students. The main goal of the paper is (1) to define the concept of executive functioning, (2) to point out executive functioning as a key determinant of students' school success, (3) to indicate possibilities of assessment and stimulation of executive functioning. Based on the analysis of published research studies, it can be concluded that appropriate stimulation focused on components of executive functioning (working memory, inhibition and attention control, cognitive planning, cognitive flexibility) can increase students' executive functioning and...

A proposal of innovations of children’s homes school educational programmes from the viewpoint of development of adolescents' competencies for independent living when leaving the homes

Veronika ©tenclová

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):80-89 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.013

The paper deals with the process of inclusion of individuals leaving children's homes, into society. Analyzes this issue in the context of incorporation in school educational programs of children's homes with regard to the educational goals aimed at developing the competencies of adolescents for independent living after leaving DD. The text is based on the assumption that the monitored area is inconsistently and insufficiently grasped in terms of processing in the SEP of children's homes. In many respects, these competencies do not meet the needs of adolescents and their actual adoption in the life of an children's homes. The main goal of the paper...

Axial symmetry as a mathematical, educational and cognitive phenomenon

Alena Prídavková, Iveta Kovalčíková

e-Pedagogium 2020, 20(3):90-100 | DOI: 10.5507/epd.2020.015

The paper describes the process of a standard mathematical problem transformation into a learning task (task for developing the ability to learn) from the field of symmetry (axial symmetry). The task is constructed so that the items of the task are graded based on the attributes of cognitive difficulty. Levels of difficulty were defined by the properties of the objects used. The learning properties of the task are manifested in the educational instructions. These are formulated for the particular task items and are gradually assigned to the child in the learning process. The analytical strategy of the solution (analytical approach) is applied. The...
