Axial symmetry as a mathematical, educational and cognitive phenomenon

The paper describes the process of a standard mathematical problem transformation into a learning task (task for developing the ability to learn) from the field of symmetry (axial symmetry). The task is constructed so that the items of the task are graded based on the attributes of cognitive difficulty. Levels of difficulty were defined by the properties of the objects used. The learning properties of the task are manifested in the educational instructions. These are formulated for the particular task items and are gradually assigned to the child in the learning process. The analytical strategy of the solution (analytical approach) is applied. The items of the task presented in the paper are created in the iconic mode of representation (Bruner, 1960); situations are depicted in two-dimensional space.
