NEW EFFECTIVE METHODS OF TEACHING ECONOMICS: THE POWER OF PARABLES

This article compares learning outcomes of two teaching methods in economics - the traditional way of teaching neoclassical economics through equations and diagrams, and a new experimental method, which relies on metaphorical parables. The experimental method avoids two core problems of the neoclassical approach: the overemphasis on mathematics and the reductionism in the basic assumptions underlying the neoclassical paradigm. The Faculty of Education, Palacký University, Olomouc provides education for primary school teachers. Compared to the recent past, foreign languages are being taught more at the moment, however it is English that predominates. German is taught as an option from 7th to 9th class (age 13-15) and it does not become a compulsory subject until secondary schools. That is why the Department of German wants to find out a) at what types of school and b) to what extent its graduates teach.
SCHOOL STRESS AND COPING STRATEGIES

In the article the autor deals with the term school stress and the term coping strategies. The empirical part focuses on uncovering the level of stress at school and coping strategies which are often used. The discovered data showed that the level of stress at school is not high and the most often used coping strategies are 'distracting activities' and 'avoiding activities'.

BURNOUT SYNDROM IN TEACHERS IN RELATION TO SELECTED DETERMINANTS

The article informs about results of the research, which examined the level of burnout syndrome in teachers in relation to selected determinants: feeling of actual resistance and contentment, streaks of behaviours of personality of type A and perception of rate of loading in working environment. The results are analysed with regard to gender, length of the praxis and working position of teachers.
