Optimizing methodological models of teaching

Renata Bellová

e-Pedagogium 2006, 6(2):7-15

The present article deals with the possibilities of optimizing teaching. Findings of pedagogical research and conclusions and recommendations resulting from data analysis are presented. The experiment compared traditional methods of teaching (control group) with the suggested methodological model of teaching (experimental group). The proposed model incorporates principles of the closed-cycle teaching system, features of problem-based teaching that include solving algorithms, instruction sheets, and testing. This study has a specific practical output because the proposed model can be utilized virtually in any teaching subject not only at colleges, but...

The attitudes of students of selected basic schools towards information communication technology

Jana Fančovičová, Pavol Prokop

e-Pedagogium 2006, 6(2):16-27

The purpose of this study was to examine the attitudes of lower-secondary-school students towards information and communication technology (ICT). A questionnaire was used containing 35 statements which were judged by students with the help of 1-to-5 Lickert scale. The statements were grouped according to the following five dimensions: usefulness, importance, interest, anxiety, and difficulty. The latter was, however, excluded from analyses due to low reliability and the final version of the questionnaire was thus reduced to 33 items with high reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.848). Students' attitudes were positive in all dimensions; boys showed...

Silvia Hovorková

e-Pedagogium 2006, 6(2):41-53

The present paper shows that different philosophical approaches affect the type of early intervention which is provided to families with children suffering from hearing loss. It reviews the literature on family-focused counselling. More specifically, it concentrates on the models of family-focused approaches and the challenges and difficulties related to its application to practice. In the conclusion, specific changes of early-counselling educational programmes are suggested.

The impact of intervention on families with children suffering from hearing loss

Silvia Hovorková

e-Pedagogium 2006, 6(2):54-62

The present paper builds on Bronfenbrenner's ecological theory. In the introduction, current literature is reviewed dealing with the influence of support on families with children suffering from hearing loss. The article discusses the resources families can use and how these resources can be used in family-focused counselling. The article more closely examines the effect of intervention on parent-child interactions and on the ability to cope with stress.

A comparison of the perception of the ideal and the real social climate at vocational schools in re-educational institutions for adolescents

Jarmila Žolnová

e-Pedagogium 2006, 6(2):72-85

The paper presents results of a study examining the differences in perception of the ideal and the real social climate at vocational schools in re-educational institutions for adolescents and at common vocational schools. Results indicate that pupils have higher expectations about the properties of individual components of the social climate. This is because they not always evaluate the existing climate favourably.
