The purpose of this study was to examine the attitudes of lower-secondary-school students towards information and communication technology (ICT). A questionnaire was used containing 35 statements which were judged by students with the help of 1-to-5 Lickert scale. The statements were grouped according to the following five dimensions: usefulness, importance, interest, anxiety, and difficulty. The latter was, however, excluded from analyses due to low reliability and the final version of the questionnaire was thus reduced to 33 items with high reliability (Cronbach's α = 0.848). Students' attitudes were positive in all dimensions; boys showed more positive attitudes to ICT than girls. The attitude to "usefulness" of ICT significantly correlated with respondents' age and the dimension "interest" showed significant differences with respect to school. No effects of gender, school, or age on "importance" and "anxiety" were found.
