The state of health of the contemporary generation of children and youth is the subject of many analyses. The main objective of this part of the research was to map and evaluate physical activity in preschool children and to compare its level in chosen parts of day and week. The research sample was 200 preschool children (96 girls, 104 boys), average age of 5.71 years, from kindergartens in the Czech Republic. The indicators of physical activity were: active energy outlay (kcal × kg-1 × day-1) and number of steps (steps × day-1). The Pearson correlation coefficient (rp) was used in order to find a relation between the followed variables. The outcomes were gained within the research project of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic "Physical Activity and Inactivity of Citizens of the Czech Republic in the Context of Behavioural Changes", RP identification code: 6198959221, carried out by the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc.
