The article informs on the effectiveness of phonological therapy Metaphone in Slovak conditions. It uses the therapy of minimal pairs, enriched with explicit training of distinctive features of phonemes. Terms of distinctive features of phonemes are adequate to the child's cognitive level. The distinction of characteristic features is realized at the level of isolated sound and word level. Explicit knowledge was used for homophony, communication failure, and conversational repair during therapy. After the therapy, two children of pre-school age with the phonological disorder had better speech intelligibility and reduced target phonological processes. The choice of objectives and sequence of acquisition of sub-goals is described. The survey results are compared with the conclusions of foreign studies. Metaphone therapy seems to be an effective therapeutic tool for Slovak children with a medium degree of phonological disorder.
