Motivational activities as an attention-getting device

This paper focuses on motivation as the primary device teachers can use to stimulate the interest of students in the matter under discussion during classes of mathematics. The study builds on the conclusions the present author has reached in her dissertation. The introduction describes the reason why this issue is of interest and states what the basic premises are. It further outlines briefly the structure of the study. The practical part provides some concrete demonstrations of the proposed motivational activities. Next, results are summarized and their usefulness for the teaching practice is discussed.
