Students'ability to assess teachers' (non-)directiveness in their mutual interaction

This paper deals with the topic of interaction styles of teachers and students (cf. Flandera's typology of education styles). Emphasis is placed on the (non-)directiveness of teachers within "student-directed education". A scale serving as an index of teachers' non-directivity in their interaction with students is proposed and tested, and a potential positive influence of non-directive approaches on the atmosphere in class is pointed out.
