An innovation of evaluating the difficulty of lecture portions in textbooks of science for the 9th grade of elementary schools

This paper provides an evaluation of the difficulty of lecture portions in five current Czech textbooks of science for 9th grades of elementary schools. The evaluation was realized according to the PLUSKAL methodology. The findings suggest that the overall difficulty of the texts ranges between 39.76 points (SCIENTIA publishing house) and 56.19 points (FORTUNA publishing house). The value of the numerical data density coefficient is not insignificant.

Azulejos didácticos - a brief view of a forgotten part of history of mathematical education

An innovation of evaluating the difficulty of lecture portions in textbooks of science for the 8th grade of elementary schools

This paper provides an evaluation of the difficulty of lecture portions in five current Czech textbooks of science for 8th grades of elementary schools. The evaluation was realized according to the PLUSKAL methodology. The findings suggest that the overall difficulty of the texts ranges between 46.23 points (SCIENTIA publishing house) and 56.41 points (PRODOS publishing house). The numerical data density coefficient is very low for all the analyzed materials. The textbooks have different values of the technical information density coefficient (i) which ranges between 26 and 32 % as well as of the (h) coefficient that ranges between 69 and 73%.
