Objective: The priority for us when choosing a methodology contains relationship between parent and child. One of the leading theses was secure attachment between relational persons, in this case between parents and children. We have focused on adults (holders of secure attachment) as mediators on the future relations with their children. The key was their memories of parental rearing. We focused on secure attachment.

Methods: We have used a 23-item (short) sEMBU is mainly looking for three basic models used in parental behavior: rejection, emotional warmth and overprotection. Our sample contains N = 970 participants (general population) of which 507 are women and 463 are men aged 18 to 62 years. All sample members are external students of university-graduate studies DTI, 2010-2014.

Results: Our results proved higher than published by Perris et al. (1980). The internal reliability on all subscales in fathers was α = .820 and maternal α = .856. Average values in each subscale were: Rejection (father): M = 13.88, SD = 3.250; Rejection (mother): M = 14.44, SD = 3.768; Emotional warmth (father): M = 14.24, SD = 3.190; Emotional warmth (mother): M = 14.24, SD = 3.214; and monitored Overprotection (father): M = 18.90, SD = 3.509; Overprotection (mother): M = 17.69, SD = 3.990. Overprotection took the highest share of classification and differentiation in the father's cluster. The highest share of classification and differentiation in the mother's cluster has Emotional warmth. We assumed that we find a secure attachment in mothers.

Conclusion: Our results surprised us, cluster analysis did not demonstrate the occurrence of a secure style of attachment. We recommend focusing on emotionality in relationships, to incorporate the concept of attachment in teacher training in the context of psychological subjects.

Keywords: attachment, sEMBU, rejection, emotional warmth, overprotection
