Education of People with Illness and Physical Disability - Reflection of the Present State and Possiblities of Further Development

Education of the students with physical disability and illness is, according to the traditional definition of prof. Kábele (1992), is one of the specialisation of the Czech special education. In this article, we will deal with some of the current transformations and possibilities of a further development of this specialisation. We will reflect its contemporary terminology, the phenomenon of handicap and health, the specifics of its clientele, the competences of teachers, the interdisciplinary cohesion and the integrity of the discipline itself. In the end, we will sum up the influence of the current shifts on the necessary alternation for university studies in the field of special education.
