The family is considered to be one of the most substantial factors influencing the effectiveness of the intervention within the field of communication disorders. Nevertheless, in many cases the opinion referring to the necessity or invariable positive parental impact on "direct" intervention or "home preparing" could be argued about, besides all with respect to contemporary knowledge of the etiological impact of the heredity on the onset or prevalence of many forms of communication disorders, mainly specific and nonspecific language development disorders. The aim of this contribution is to draw an attention to some specific areas related directly to the real possibilities and limitations of the utilization of families in a complex intervention focused on communication disorders, which should be, in our opinion, much more intensively discussed to improve the quality and increase the effectiveness of the treatment of the specialists in this area.
