Assessing the quality of interactions formed during play among mentally-handicapped children with communicative disorders

Play creates a natural context for social exchanges and interactions among children. The present paper describes the results of a qualitative research study that attempted to identify the most typical manifestations of starting social interactions in mentally-handicapped, school-aged individuals with communicative insufficiencies. The presented results have the form of qualitative definitions of characteristic behavior of a group of children at play in formal settings.
