AB The paper deals with the issue of the school environment from the perspective of students in compulsory education. It acquaints with the results of a research survey carried out using a standardized questionnaire on a sample of 363 students of selected primary schools. It analyses the students´ statements about the subjective experience of school life in the sense of experienced positives, which characterize school benefits perceived by them, as well as experienced negatives, which define their possible risk areas for behavioural development. The paper presents the results of this survey in four steps concerning the prevention of problematic behaviour of students at school. Using descriptive and inductive statistics, it comments on the differences between male and female students' views on school life structured into seven areas. ER
