The focus is on the relationship between IQ and study achievements and making the connection to academic requirements of students who have not met these requirements within the first two years of their studies. Furthermore, this study determines the motivation to study teaching programmes and its relation to the measured values of IQ. The results of the research show that study preconditions, based on academic abilities, are not the key criteria for acquiring applicants who are motivated to start their teaching career after graduating from the Faculty of Education.
