Together with other expressive therapies art therapy has become part of preparation of teachers of pupils with special needs. As competences for the profession of art therapist have not yet been clearly defined in the Czech Republic, requirements for professional preparation for this job are not defined either. The structure of the subject of art therapy is often created by the teachers themselves. The authors of the present article analyse selected aspects of education in art therapy for students of special pedagogy at the Faculty of Education, Palacky University Olomouc and the Sichuan Normal University in Chengdu.
