It compares views on professional readiness and professional orientation of student teachers of secondary education in the unstructured and structured studies at four faculties of pedagogy in the Czech Republic, on the basis of a questionnaire survey (2009/10). Students of pedagogy for the 6th to 9th grades of elementary schools evaluated better the training in unstructured programs than in structured ones in the fields of the subject-branch component, subject didactics and the sufficiency of practical training. The difference of evaluation in the programs of pedagogy for secondary schools was significant only in higher appreciation of the sufficiency of the number of lessons of practical training in the structured study. Weaker orientation to teaching was identified in students of the structured study.
